Legal Ethics Committee Issues Opinion on Jury Venire
The Legal Ethics Committee has issued an opinion (Opinion 2010-1) on jury venire with regards to California Rule of Professional Conduct 5-320, concluding that an attorney is not ethically prohibited from conducting a mock trial with members of the community in which the trial will be held.  To read a press release regarding the opinion, click here.  To read the opinion in its entirety, click here.

This year the SDCBA will focus on sustaining our global resources, how we use technology and insuring that our profession takes a leadership role in lessening our "footprint."  Look for the logo at right which will highlight key initiatives that will underscore this focus as we prepare for the changes that will come in the next five to 10 years.

Submit Recommendation for Name of Federal Courthouse Annex

We have been given a great responsibility -  to provide input to Congresswoman Susan Davis to aid in the naming of the new San Diego Federal Courthouse annex. Congresswoman Davis would like the “courthouse’s name to be reflective of the discipline and integrity of the judges and staff of the Southern District while also honoring an individual who has created a legacy of passion for the role of law in our community and society.”  For more information, and to provide a recommendation for the naming of the new San Diego Federal Courthouse annex, click here.
