The San Diego County Bar Association has been providing quality, professional programs and services to the general community and to its nearly 7,000 members for more than 100 years. The bar acts as an umbrella organization and resource to the more than 30 regional, minority and specialty bars throughout the county.

Part of the bar's mission is to assist the public in better understanding how the justice system works and what assistance is available. To that end, the bar provides a variety of programs and services including the Lawyer Referral and Information Service (LRIS), Client Relations, which assists with specific attorney/client disputes and Fee Arbitration, which provides a means for resolving fee disputes between clients and their attorney. Additionally, the bar co-sponsors community forums and programs through Law Week, which takes place each year during the first week of May.

Law Week, which is co-sponsored by the bar and the LRIS, offers programs including Ask-A-Lawyer-Night, a live call-in show on KNSD-Channel 7/39, free family law counseling through the Family Law Facilitator's offices at Family Law Court, and Free Law at Kobey's, where attorneys are available from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. to assist the public with legal concerns. This year, Law Week runs from April 29-May 4. (For more information, visit the bar's website at www.sdcba.org)
