The Distinguished Lawyer Memorial
The Distinguished Lawyer Memorial Fund gives special and permanent recognition to deceased lawyers and judges of the San Diego County Bar who demonstrated superior legal skills and high ethical standards throughout careers of significant length.

The Selection Process
Inclusion in the Distinguished Lawyer memorial is a professional honor. Distinguished Lawyers will be selected by the Foundation's Board of Directors from those members of the San Diego County Bar whose professional, public and private careers have demonstrated outstanding dedication to the welfare of the community and the maintenance and support of the major objectives of the San Diego County Bar Foundation, including, but not limited to, improving (1) public awareness of the legal system in San Diego County, (2) the administration of justice and (3) the delivery of legal services. Distinguished Lawyers are those who will have demonstrated themselves to be honest, truthful, just, fair, civil and gently mannered throughout the course of their careers.

The Memorial
Recognition in the Memorial is permanent, and plaques are located in the San Diego County Courthouse near the entrance to the Department of the Presiding Judge of the Superior Court.

Invitations
Invitations to submit a nomination are extended to families, friends and interested persons of lawyers and judges qualified for inclusion in the Memorial. Colleagues, friends and families of Distinguished Lawyers join together to make a tax deductible contribution of $10,000 to the Fund that benefits worthy legal projects in San Diego County.
