Frequently asked questions about the San Diego Lawyer Directory. The official directory of the San Diego County Bar Association.
The San Diego Lawyer and the SDCBA is pleased to be able to provide it free to our lawyer members. Following are answers to some of the most often asked questions about the project. If you have other questions or thoughts about the San Diego Lawyer Directory 2008, please call the San Diego County Bar Association at (619) 231-0781. We look forward to hearing from you.
Q: Why publish a directory?
A: It is an opportunity for the Bar to provide San Diego's legal professionals with the most accurate and comprehensive listing of attorneys, courts and law-related organizations possible. And, to provide it FREE to SDCBA members and at a small cost to non-members. The Bar is always looking for ways to better serve our members and the entire legal community.
Q: How is the San Diego Lawyer Directory different?
A: Your directory is designed by attorneys for attorneys, with the demands of a busy practice in mind and the
cooperation of the County's law-related organizations. Information is organized in an easily accessible format.
The comprehensive guide to the County's courts is compiled in consultation with the courts themselves. And, proceeds support the public service efforts and member services at the Bar, rather than a private company.
Q: Does it include just SDCBA members?
A: No. The San Diego Lawyer includes ALL of the over 12,500 San Diego County lawyers, members and non-
members (compared to the Transcript's roughly 8,500 listings). No other San Diego legal directory is as complete.
Q: How much does the directory cost?
A: Nothing for SDCBA lawyer members and a nominal fee for nonmembers. As a benefit of SDCBA membership, one copy of the directory will be provided free of charge with additional copies available at a reduced rate. Non-members are able to purchase the directory at a rate comparable to competing directories - but with much improved quality.
Q: Do you still have my photograph from last year?
A: Yes. If you submitted a photograph for the San Diego Lawyer Directory 2008 (or an earlier edition), we will use it again for the 2009 edition, unless you send us a replacement. Guidelines for photograph submission appear above.
Q: If I'm not a member and don't plan to buy a directory, should I still return this form?
A: Definitely. In the course of your practice of law, you look up other attorneys regularly. You would want attorneys looking for you to find complete and accurate information. That's just good business. Your listing is free and, once you see the San Diego Lawyer Directory 2009, we know you will change your mind. A limited number of copies are available for purchase after publication. |
