Letter from the President

Negeen Mirreghabie
Attorney at Law
New Lawyer Division President

Dear New Lawyer Division Member:

Foremost, I hope this message finds you well and excited to embark on a wonderfully successful year together!

Your professional character, savvy knowledge, and valuable support are all assets that will continue to be cherished, highlighted, and further encouraged by our Division and the San Diego County Bar Association. It is, therefore, my utmost privilege to serve as your 2013 New Lawyer Division President and to be your direct representative.

The coming year is filled with a plethora of opportunities and fun-filled events. The San Diego County Bar Association will be moving to its new venue, at 401 West “A” Street, to heighten your connectivity with other legal professionals and better equip your daily practice of law. The New Lawyer Division’s programming will further refine your definition of serving in excellence and help propel your legal trajectory.

Our Division’s committees are dedicated to advancing your personal achievements and professional endeavors. The Continuing Legal Education Committee, for instance, will keep you updated on changes in the court system, revised legal code(s), and provide you with the requisite skills to better serve your clients. The Events Committee invites you to directly network with notable professionals, within or ancillary to our legal community, at a multitude of signature soirees. The Mentoring Committee is further subdivided to tailor its programming to fit the needs of our members appropriately; the Law Student Sub-Committee pairs third-year law students with new attorneys in practice, the 1-4 Year NLD Attorney Sub-Committee will provide an apprenticeship program that will be utilized in completing a project and writing sample for a senior attorney, and the 5-7 Year NLD Attorney Sub-Committee facilitates the organic development of lifelong mentor-mentee relationships. Both the Diversity and Community Service Committees are committed to year-long public service initiatives that give back to all San Diegans, regardless of their affiliation to our legal community. Of course, all of the aforementioned offerings would not be possible without our Communications Committee’s diligence in alerting you to such a wide array of opportunities in its written publication, For the Record, and through our social media networks, at Facebook and Twitter.

Please help me welcome the incredibly talented and engaging 2013 New Lawyer Division Board of Directors:
