Following is a list of scheduled activities: Free Law at Kobey's Free legal information will be provided by SDCBA volunteer
lawyers at Kobey's SWAP Meet at the Sports Arena. Spanish interpreters
will be available.
SDBCA volunteer lawyers field legal questions from KNSD
7/39 viewers on a variety of legal topics. Attorneys will receive calls
at the NBC studios in downtown San Diego.
District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis is scheduled speak at
the breakfast, which will celebrate the diversity of San Diego lawyers.
A book drive will also be held and books will be donated to Kennedy
Elementary's library as well as the children's room at the Family Justice
Center. Books may be new or gently used, in Spanish or English, and
must be appropriate for grades K-6.
Students from Mission Bay, San Diego, and Madison High
Schools will have the opportunity to observe proceedings in one of
the county's busiest courtrooms. The participants will be given an
overview of our justice system and learn the importance of the rule
of law. In addition, lunch will be provided for the students.
The cocktail party will feature hors d'oeuvres and a no-host bar. Sponsored by Higgs, Fletcher & Mack and Wingert Grebing Brubaker & Ryan.
Meet at the historic Whaley House for an informative
tour and then enjoy dinner at Old Town Mexican Café prior to
attending the smash hit musical "Beehive" at the Theatre
in Old Town. Ticket price includes all of the aforementioned activities
as well as gratuity and tax. Drinks are not included. Tickets are limited
to the first 50 people who RSVP.
Attorneys and legal professionals speak to classes about careers in law at San Diego High School.
Law Day Luncheon The Bar's service awards (including Attorney and Jurist
of the Year, Community Service, Service to the Legal Profession, and
Distinguished Organization), as well as the 2003 Media Awards, will
be presented at this annual luncheon. Winners of the Law Week 2003
students oratorical, poster and essay competitions will also be on
hand to accept their awards.
The Law Week committee will be holding a book drive concurrently
with the Law Day Luncheon and the Unity Breakfast. The books will donated
to Kennedy Elementary library and to the children's room at the Family
Justice Center. Books may be new or gently used, in Spanish or English,
and must be appropriate for grades K-6.
Wednesday, April 30 Friday, May 2 Each seminar will include several attorneys who will
focus on criminal, estate, and civil law followed by a question and
answer session.
The San Diego Entertainment & Sports Lawyer's Association
(SDE&SLA), a section of the SDCBA, will be offering free consultations
with some of San Diego's premier entertainment attorneys at the Guitar
Center.
