Message from the President
By Cirrus Alpert
Callahan McCune & Willis YNLD President

I don't know how to put this, but being a YNLD Director is kind of a big deal. People know them. They are very important. They have many leather-bound books and their apartments smell of rich mahogany. Well, that might be more of a Ron Burgundy pick-up line than a hard fact, but I can say, honestly, that the YNLD is kind of a big deal.
Of all the attorneys in San Diego County with less than seven years of experience, over fifty-five percent are members of the YNLD. Notable players in the San Diego business community, law firms, and other young professional organizations are beginning to take notice of the momentum and energy behind San Diego’s YNLD. This momentum must be why we continue to receive nominations for the 2008 YNLD Board of Directors. |

Search engine marketing for San Diego Attorneys
Have you ever “Googled” yourself? |
| |
Or more importantly, when potential clients search online for your practice, does your website show up? Sadly, if you are like most others, your own clients would likely have a hard time finding your website online, even if they were to search for you by name.
In today’s world, the Internet has replaced the Yellow Pages and Search Engine Marketing (SEM) has now become a vital tool for many businesses, giving websites increased exposure, traffic, and customers. Having visibility in the search engines is critical in today's marketplace, and it will be critical in tomorrows.

Little League and lemonade stands are staples of the average American childhood. But for entrepreneur Jaalin Cheng, his formative years were anything but typical.
Because Cheng was the only child of two highly dedicated business people, he was exposed at a very young age to the business world. “It was easy for my parents to take me in tow wherever they had to go, so I was constantly going to their business meetings and hanging out outside their business meetings,” Cheng remembers. His father worked as a corporate executive in Hong Kong and his mother was a Chicago-based entrepreneur, facilitating trade between the United States and China. |

What I did over summer vacation
by

I never thought I would say this, but I do have at least one thing in common with celebrities Paris Hilton and Phil Specter: we all spent our summers in a Downtown L.A. courthouse. Thankfully, the similarities end there. I was not in traffic court like Paris, nor in criminal court like Phil. I was in the comparatively luxurious civil courthouse, named after former California Supreme Court Associate Justice Stanley Mosk. Armed with my extern badge and a ready smile, I arrived at the courthouse one sunny Monday morning only to get in line behind a throng of people waiting to go through the metal detectors. And thus I began my stint as a Los Angeles Superior Court Extern… |
