What do you get when you combine talented NABE communications professionals with that old Cornhusker spirit? You get #NABECOMM18, this year hosted in Omaha – largest city in Nebraska and home to more than its share of eye-opening amenities.
Skeptical much? Well, how about the best zoo in the country (don’t @ us), which includes one of the world’s largest indoor rainforests and indoor deserts (who knew?). Feeling sporty? Omaha has more than 80 miles of trails for bicyclists, hikers and pedestrians. History lover? Not only was civil rights leader Malcolm X born in Omaha, but the city also boasts the Durham Museum, housed in the former Union Station, which displays the history of the western United States. Art maven? The Joslyn Art Museum and The Bemis Center for Contemporary Art are free and close by – and one of them (spoiler alert) is bright pink. Foodie? It’s more than just mouth-watering Omaha steaks and a robust restaurant scene – the TV dinner and the Reuben sandwich were invented in Omaha, and Kool-Aid made its kool debut in the state. Music lover? The city has a rich history – and active music scene – that spans R&B, hip-hop and jazz. And for those who only get jazzed by legal facts (uBu), the state motto is “Equality Before the Law.” Boom – something for everybody!
We’re excited to announce that registration is now open for the 2018 NABECOMM Workshop, to be held on October 3-5. Our host city is centrally located, easy to get to, simple to spell and very affordable. For all those reasons – and the Reuben – we expect a sold-out Workshop – so be sure to book your registration and hotel room early.
Getting excited about Omaha? Check out a few of the Workshop highlights:
This is all thanks to the support of our generous sponsors – whom we will shower with NABE love soon – and our hard-working Program Committee, led by Brandon Vogel of the NYS Bar. Those communications pros have spent more hours than they’d care to admit planning the best corn-husking Workshop you’ll ever see. They are all about quality programming, and – like Nebraska pioneers – we reap the benefits.
And here is one more benefit: The first three folks to register for the Workshop will receive a gift from the Section Chair: A $20 gift card to Local Beer Patio & Kitchen – a 6-minute walk from the Workshop hotel – where you can indulge your love for Reubens and many other foods. (Section Council members are ineligible for this offer. Because really?)
As the Oracle of Omaha, Warren Buffett, has sagely advised, “Act now.”
We look forward to seeing you soon in Omaha!
