Access to Appellate Justice Program

The Access to Appellate Justice (ATAJ) Program seeks to help civil appellate litigants find a pro bono attorney.  This program applies to cases on appeal from San Diego Superior Court to the California Court of Appeal, Fourth Appellate District, Division One.

This program applies only to cases in which:

  • A notice of appeal has been filed in the California Court of Appeal, Fourth Appellate District, Division One, in San Diego;
  • The case is a civil matter from the San Diego Superior Court;
  • You obtained a fee waiver in superior court or you apply and will qualify for one in the court of appeal; and
  • The other side was represented by an attorney in superior court.

Note:  If you were represented by an attorney in the superior court, you will qualify for the program only if the opposing party was a business or governmental entity.
