Hello NLDers! Happy February! It was an absolute pleasure meeting all of you last month at our meet-up at The Office in North Park and at the Legal Community Open House and Law Student Reception at the Bar Center. We hope you will continue to join us at future events. For those of you who couldn’t join us, the NLD will be hosting a meet-up every month, a CLE once per quarter, and several community service based activities throughout the year. The goal of these events is to engage members, facilitate relationships, and establish support systems by offering a wide range of networking opportunities specifically designed for new lawyers and law students.

Did you know that your SDCBA membership comes with a variety of amazing benefits? Each month we will endeavor to highlight one of the benefits that comes standard with your membership. This month: PARKING. Ever want to go to a networking event downtown, but don’t want to spend the money on Uber or circle around forever to find a meter? That’s not a problem anymore! Park at the ACE Parking Lot at Union and B street for FREE after 5 p.m. and all day on weekends by printing your SDCBA parking pass and placing it on your dashboard. Downloading is super easy. Simply go to www.sdcba.org, login to your account, click “For Members” at the top of the home page, click “Member Benefits!”, and download your pass!

NLD also provides its membership with opportunities to get published through the SDCBA’s award winning e-publication, For The Record. Each month, new lawyers and law students are encouraged to submit proposed publications to the Editor-in-Chief, Kevin Hambly, on a wide variety of themes and topics relevant to the practice of law. The publication is distributed on the third Thursday of each month. If you are interested in becoming a published author, please submit your proposed article to Kevin Hambly at khambly@srfirms.com. Articles must be 800 to 1,000 words in length. Next month’s topic will be taking and defending depositions. Proposed articles must be submitted by March 12, but we will also accept articles on other topics that are interesting to your practice area.

The NLD has had a successful start to the year and we are excited to continue to build this momentum. If you are interested in getting involved with the NLD or have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me directly at sandlerstephanie@gmail.com. And don’t forget to like us on Facebook to get all the latest updates. We look forward to seeing you at our next event!

Best,

Stephanie Sandler
