Letter from the Chair of the Forum

Dear Colleagues,

It was awesome seeing so many of you at last night’s Legal Community Open House & Law Student Welcome Reception – be sure to check out this month’s Scene At to see a few pictures (and share any you might have taken by emailing bar@sdcba.org).

Now looking at the calendar ahead, there are tons of other great opportunities coming up for emerging lawyers. Here are a few:

  • Next Wednesday: Stress-Free Student Loan Strategies. How to best handle student loans is a daunting, but necessary, conversation. To hear some key strategies for loan repayment and forgiveness from Heather Jarvis, the expert on student debt, don’t miss this program.
  • September 29, Supreme Court Luncheon Reception. SDCBA members have been invited to help welcome our Supreme Court to our hometown – needless to say, this is a special event. Attendees will also celebrate the launch of the Student Civics Engagement Academy.
  • October 3-7, October 11-13, Member Portrait Sittings: Every attorney should have a professional headshot, and as an SDCBA member you can (and should) upload your headshot to your Online Directory profile. Take advantage of the opportunity to get your professional photo taken at the Bar Center. Note, this is by appointment only, so be sure to schedule yours soon.

Also, small/solo practitioners: Don’t miss Small/Solo Law Practice Day on October 6. And if you haven’t seen the Building Your Practice on the SDCBA website lately, be sure to give it a visit – and maybe a bookmark. The page lists countless resources, and it’s updated regularly.

Sincerely,

Jason
