Adopt a Family
The Adopt a Family Program allows firms and individuals to provide clothes, presents and food shopping needs for crime victim families in San Diego County. Participants are responsible for providing everything on their family's "wish list," wrapping the presents and delivering them to the family.

Attorneys in the Classroom
Planning a lesson on the Judicial branch of government or celebrating Constitution Day? Our members are eager to come to your classroom and speak with students on a variety of topics. To find out about arranging an attorney to speak to your class, contact bar@sdcba.org

Bench-Bar Beach Clean Up
Each year the SDCBA and San Diego Superior Court host a beach clean up for bench and bar members, families and friends to help keep San Diego's main attraction clean and beautiful.

Bench-Bar Community Outreach - Senior Community Centers Lunch
SDCBA members and judges and commissioners from the San Diego Superior Court gather for this joint service project between the bench and bar by volunteering to serve lunch to senior citizens.

Children At Risk Committee
The SDCBA’s Children At Risk Committee (CAR) works to advance the interest of children. The Committee facilitates a number of programs that bring SDCBA members into the classroom including programs such as Porter Readers, which pairs a classroom with a volunteer who reads to students on a regular basis. CAR also has Peace Patrol/Conflict Resolution programs, mock trial video presentations and participates in the Clairemont High School Law Academy among a variety of other events and projects each year.

FaceLift Project
FaceLift, a joint project between Community HousingWorks and various volunteer groups including the SDCBA, is a "spruce-up-a-block-in-a-day" event accomplished with the help of community volunteers, neighborhood associations, local business leaders, and local political leaders acting as catalysts to build pride and equality. A dozen homes are made over as volunteers assist in exterior painting, minor landscaping, and trash and debris removal from the entire work area. Priority assistance is given to senior citizens, disabled persons and low income families.

Law Week
From April 28 through May 2, attorneys and legal community volunteers throughout San Diego County will participate in activities designed to assist and educate the San Diego community while contributing to the annual Law Week celebration. Events include a children's book drive, Ask-A-Lawyer, and Family Law information sessions. For information on this year's Law Week activities, visit www.sdcba.org/2014lawweek.

On April 30 the SDCBA will hold its annual Law Week Luncheon and Celebration of Community Service to honor the SDCBA’s Service Award Winners, recognize the ongoing commitment to service among San Diego legal professionals and celebrate the poster and essay contest winners. For more information about this event, and to register, click here.

Law Week Poster & Essay Contest
This contest helps generate excitement toward the justice system among school children. Children in Kindergarten through 6th grade can participate in the Poster Contest, while students in grades 6 through 12 can enter the Essay Contest. Awards are presented at the annual Law Week Luncheon and three entries in each of the two contests are awarded cash prizes. To learn more, contact Michelle Chavez at mchavez@sdcba.org.

San Diego County High School Mock Trial Competition
The Mock Trial Competition, which takes place early each year, places high school students in a simulated courtroom setting where they assume the roles of lawyers and witnesses in a hypothetical case. The winning team goes on to represent San Diego County at the California Mock Trial Finals in March. As part of the program, area lawyers volunteer to serve as coaches and scorers and Superior Court Judges and Commissioners preside over the mock trials. The competition serves to promote a greater understanding of and appreciation for the law, court procedures and for the American judicial system. For more information and to get involved, email mchavez@sdcba.org.
