Vol. 1, Issue 1, September 2017

Welcome to the first edition of the new bi-monthly Civics Education Newsletter! The purpose of this newsletter is to provide teachers with the tools and resources that will allow them to better incorporate civics education into your curriculum. There are already so many resources out there that sifting through it all is overwhelming and time consuming. Here, we will aim to provide teachers with a concrete, timely, ready-to-go civics based lesson plan that can be easily employed  in a middle school or high school classroom, in addition to highlighting useful resources and upcoming events related to civics education. For September, we thought it would useful to focus on the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. As you may know, September 17th is Constitution Day, the day Americans commemorate the signing of the Constitution by the Founding Fathers. This year, Constitution day will be observed in classrooms on September 15th. Happy Constitution Day - let’s teach some civics!
