Professor A. Thomas Golden received his bachelor’s degree from Kent State University and his J.D. from UCLA School of law.

After serving as in-house counsel at the Whitaker Corporation in Los Angeles, Prof. Golden began teaching at Thomas Jefferson School of Law as a member of the adjunct faculty and taught there every semester for the next forty years. For the first seven of those years, while alternating between adjunct and resident faculty status, he was an associate attorney at Fredman, Silverberg & Lewis, a San Diego law firm, and then operated his own civil litigation practice. He became a permanent member of the full-time faculty in 1983 and has taught numerous courses beyond his core subjects: Contracts and Remedies.

In addition to serving as assistant dean for several years, Prof. Golden was the law school’s director of foreign study programs and led legal study groups to Beijing, China, and Cambridge, England. He taught Comparative Antitrust Law in the school's summer foreign study program in Nice, France. He has provided instruction on the American Legal System to numerous groups of visiting Brazilian lawyers in a legal education exchange program begun by the school in 2011, and that year spoke at the Seminar on Federal Public Legal Advocacy in Brasilia as the guest of the Brazilian Attorney General. He was also the Director of Residential Graduate Law Degree Programs in American Legal Studies and International Trade. The Thomas Jefferson Student Bar Association Alumnus of the Year award is named in Prof. Golden’s honor.

Since retiring from Thomas Jefferson with Emeritus status in July, 2016, Prof. Golden has continued to teach the introductory course for foreign students in the school's residential graduate degree programs. He has also taught a class on the intersection of Contract and Bankruptcy law for visiting Brazilian attorneys at California Western School of Law. He consults with legal practitioners in the areas of his expertise and provides client legal services relating to contract formation.
