Commissioner White was appointed by the judges of the Superior Court as a court commissioner in December, 2008. She was sworn in on January 5, 2009 and began her career as a commissioner presiding over traffic, small claims, misdemeanor and unlawful detainer actions. In 2010, she was assigned to the Family Support Division, hearing cases involving child support. After one year, Commissioner White was assigned to a newly created department wherein she presided over almost exclusively custody and visitation cases. In January 2012, she was assigned to Department 7 in East County, an independent calendar family law assignment, where she was the site supervisor for family law. She currently sits in Department F1 in the downtown Family Law Division. She is a member of the Superior Court’s Family Court Policy Committee and the Judicial Council’s Family Law Curriculum Committee. Commissioner White is a graduate of California Western School of Law, University of San Diego and San Diego State University. Prior to her appointment as a commissioner, from 2003 to 2008, she served as the Director of the Superior Court’s Legal Services Department. Commissioner White began her legal career as a paralegal and upon passing the bar, began working as a staff attorney in Superior Court’s Criminal Division. In 1999, she was promoted to the court’s Lead Criminal Attorney. Commissioner White served on the State Bar’s Public Law Executive Committee from 2005 to 2008, and was Co-Secretary and Chair of the Public Lawyer of the Year Subcommittee. She has been active in the San Diego County Bar Association since 1996 and San Diego Lawyer’s Club since 1997.
