Lawrence Huerta works in his own private mediation practice. Mr. Huerta is known for his creative and energetic approach to mediation and helping parties find interest based, risk managed resolutions. He worked at major law firms in Los Angeles and San Diego before forming his own law firm in San Diego in 1991. Mr. Huerta is a Mediator and Arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association, the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (“FINRA”), the San Diego County Superior Court Mediation Panel, the United States Forest Service and Postal Service. He has mediated approximately eight hundred cases, including nearly four hundred employment cases, and more than twenty matters around the country in the national sexual discrimination and harassment class action Martens v. Smith Barney, also notoriously known as the "Boom-Boom case", administered through the Duke University Private Adjudication Center. Mr. Huerta has also presided in over one hundred mediations for the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Mr. Huerta graduated with honors from the University of California, Davis with a B.A. in Economics in 1980. He graduated from the University of Michigan Law School and was admitted to the California Bar in 1983. He is the author of the short published articles “What The ABA Says Lawyers and Clients Are Looking For in Commercial Mediation” and “Why Mediation?”. He is a member of the San Diego County Bar Association Labor & Employment Section, ADR Section, and the American Bar Association Section of Dispute Resolution.
