SDCBA in the Community
The SDCBA encourages all members to volunteer their time either in pro bono legal services or general community volunteer opportunities. Join the many SDCBA members who give their time to a variety of community oriented events and activities.
The San Diego County Bar Association (SDCBA) understands the importance of maintaining a connection with students and helping to foster an understanding and interest in the legal community. Many of our members also enjoy working with San Diego’s youth and give their time through some of the SDCBA’s various youth related service programs.
The San Diego County Bar Association released a report on the State of the Judiciary in San Diego County in 2013. The report provides a snapshot of the state of San Diego’s courts and urges the legislature to reinvest in the judicial branch. This report is updated annually.
During San Diego County elections, there is often little information available about candidates who are running for judge. As a service to voters, the San Diego County Bar Association (SDCBA) evaluates judicial candidates in contested judicial elections. Evaluations for candidates in the 2016 election will be posted prior to the primary election.

Since 2009, the SDCBA has hosted a pro bono program that assists active-duty military servicemembers in obtaining stays in pending litigation while the servicemember is deployed. Through the Servicemember Civil Relief Act (SCRA) program, attonrey volunteers represent servicemembers in civil, family, and unlawful detainer cases. Attorneys interested in volunteering for the SCRA program should email firstname.lastname@example.org.
