The annual Bench/Bar/Media panel discussion is a high-profile annual event produced by the San Diego County Bar Association (SDCBA), working with the San Diego County Superior Court and the San Diego Society of Professional Journalists. The event features renowned expert panelists and routinely draws 80–120 attendees, including attorneys, judges, and journalists. You can play a part in helping the SDCBA produce this event by becoming a sponsor at the $100 or $500 level.

In past years, we've tackled such stimulating topics as fake news, cancel culture, the intersection of COVID-19 and social justice, and declining trust in the courts. This year's timely discussion tackles the mental health toll that court cases can take on journalists, lawyers and judges. Interest in this topic continues to grow, and we expect strong attendance for this event.

The trauma of dealing with issues of life, death, and money — and the secondary trauma of what we see and experience. It’s all in a day’s work for journalists, lawyers and even judges. But what is the cost to the mental health of those in the journalism and legal professions? Join us as our panel discusses the toll that our stressful and demanding jobs take on our mental health, and what the bench, bar and media can do about it.
