FREE for SDCBA Members and the Legal Community
This program is approved for 1.5 hour of CLE self-study credit in CA by the San Diego County Bar Association (Provider #2816). No CLE Certificate will be provided and attorneys must track their own self-study hours and report compliance to the CA State Bar. Your records of self-study activities need to include the following information: course title, provider, time spent in the activity, subject matter of the activity, and activity date. See the CA State Bar for additional details: Keeping Your MCLE Records
San Diego is the proud home to the nation’s largest concentration of military personnel and service members have unique and often complex legal issues. The SCRA is a federal law that provides protections to individuals in the military and impacts a broad array of situations from payment of rent, mortgages and loans, to child custody matters.
Since 2009, the SDCBA's LRIS has hosted a Pro Bono Program that assists active-duty military service members in obtaining stays in their cases while they are serving our country. Our volunteers are appointed to represent the service members in civil, family, and unlawful detainer cases. We welcome all types of lawyers, and no experience is necessary.
You will learn:
- A brief history and overview of the SCRA
- What situations are covered
- Who has rights under the SCRA
- What are the obligations of the parties under SCRA
- Information and tips to participate in the pro bono program
