Excerpt from Bylaws Section 4.2.2:

(1) has been an Attorney Member of the Association for at least three of the past five years;

(2) has been licensed to practice law at least seven full years by the time of service commencing;

(3) is currently admitted to practice law in the State of California or another US jurisdiction;

(4) is not, as of the time the nomination is received, disbarred, suspended from practicing law, or having a status of withdrawn or resigned while disciplinary charges are pending, from any bar to which the candidate has been admitted;

(5) has not been convicted of a felony in the seven years preceding the candidacy; and

(6) has demonstrated leadership which may be achieved by: (a) serving as a chair of a SDCBA Section, Committee, or Division; or (b) serving as a member of another not-for-profit organization’s board of directors (such as law-related or community organizations); or (c) similar experience (e.g., experience in organizational governance and the ability to contribute to SDCBA’s strategic planning, evaluation, and enhancement of programs and services, and to ensure those programs and services move the association forward; experience providing resource and financial oversight and ability to ensure that adequate resources are devoted to priorities and other association functions; ability to ensure the legal and ethical integrity of the SDCBA and execute the fiduciary duty of a member of the Board; ability to act as an ambassador at large for the Association by promoting the Association’s mission, goals, and accomplishments, whenever and wherever appropriate).
