Call to Action: Standing United for the Rule of Law and Our Courts
SAN DIEGO (September 17, 2025) — To the members of the San Diego County Bar Association and all members of the public:
At this pivotal moment in our history, we, members of the legal profession, stand united to reaffirm our unwavering commitment to an independent judiciary, the rule of law, and the right to provide legal representation free from fear or intimidation. We ask that all members of the public join us in uniting for the Rule of Law.
The strength of our democracy rests on the fundamental principle that no one is above the law—a principle upheld by our courts through fair and impartial rulings. When court orders are disregarded or judges are threatened it is not only the legal system that comes under attack—it is the very foundation of our democratic society.
All of us are guardians of justice, and we must rise in defense of these institutions and the professionals who serve them with integrity. We encourage everyone to take action in the following ways:
- Uphold the Role of the Judiciary - respect the courts whose orders ensure fairness, accountability, and the rule of law.
- Support Legal Professionals - stand with those committed to defending constitutional rights and principles.
- Educate and Engage - speak with at least one person about the importance of the rule of law and why its protection matters to all.
Let us stand together in defense of justice, equality, and democratic values.
If you’d like to reaffirm your commitment to these principles and take meaningful action, we invite you to add your name to this statement.
